The Baton MkII

AWARDS/REVIEW

"The Baton is conducting in a different league. I can actually compare it in a relatively meaningful way against the best models…it can be accurately described (as) musical, smooth, sweet and very good, period-not just on a price or value basis."

ENJOYTHEMUSIC.COM INTERNET MAG 2003

"Once the cable was installed and thoroughly run in, I was impressed by the bass, which came across as quite full bodied but tuneful- no single note rumble here."

HI-FI NEWS MAGAZINE

"Altogether, this is a well-balanced cable which offers fine performance at a competitive price."

HI-FI CHOICE MAGAZINE 2003

With its ability to deliver deep, extended lows and crystal clear highs, Ecosse's Baton Interconnect redefines the standard for hi-tech, hi performance cables at an affordable price. Extremely solid sound staging in a virtually noise-free environment helps deliver a totally convincing performance. And its design is just as revolutionary. Never before has an interconnect of this quality and construction been available to the consumer at this price level.

Conceived and designed as an upgrade to the world renowned and multi-award winning Ecosse 'Conductor CA1 Interconnect, the Baton is an all-new 'balanced' analogue interconnect cable.

Just like NASA we have taken technology designed for one of our much more expensive products and 'trickled' it down for use in this much more affordably cable-without compromising the integrity of this technology. The Baton is a 'symmetrical' cable where-in the two conductors, 'going' and 'return' are electrically identical-this helps to reduce 'RFI noise'.

The Baton uses several sub-topologies synergised in one cable resulting in a quite unique structure: It offers deep silver-plated (for faster smoother transmission of the delicate audio signal-since silver has a 10% gain in conductance compared to copper, a copper wire plated with silver will have less signal loss especially at longer lengths.) Ultra Hi Purity-OFC™ conductors, which are helically wound around a polymer core, forming a cylinder.

Each of the two identical (send and return) signal conductors is then sheathed in a low-density gas-foamed Polyethylene (LDFPE) primary insulator. Each conductor is individually screened with a continuous coverage aluminium/Mylar foil shield and tinned-copper drain wire.

The two conductors are held in precise formation by our unique and patented Isohelix™ jacket clamp. This clamp mechanism ensures that the 'send' and 'return' conductors are kept in precise relationship to each other - necessary to critically maintain the electrical characteristics of this device - and forms the second line of defence against the deleterious effects of microphony.

Another continuous aluminium-Mylar foil shield and drain adds further screening before the whole 'structure' is encapsulated in soft PVC - the first line of defence against microphony - protecting the conductors from the elements.

The Baton is available either in 'pseudo-balanced RCA' or 'fully balanced XLR' form. In 'pseudo-balanced' form, the screen is connected at one end only (source) to drain unwanted 'noise' ingress (R.F.I). Here, our high-quality COPPER (others use vastly inferior brass-yeuch!) MACH1 non-compressing, conjugate bracket (designed to form a 'Faraday Cage'- a device for reducing RFI) hard silver-plated RCA plugs were selected for this cable for realisation of the best performance and screening.

In balanced form, we use high-quality XLR plugs, again copper alloy, direct silver-plated, as this was auditioned to offer the best performance with balanced equipment.

We recommend you try this cable with our ES range of 'speaker' cables. Heres our complete cable synergy table for reference.
