Biwiring should be
used wherever possible because in a biwire configuration, the cables
feeding the higher frequencies are not affected by the electromagnetic
interference from the low frequency signals, which are carried in a
separate conductor. Additionally, and just as important, the speaker now
‘sees’ a reduced ‘load’
due to the decreased total resistance of the cable, and this makes the
speaker less prone to frequency response variations due to cable
resistance.
In this biwire set-up,
our recommendation is the use of our new world-beating rope-lay
MS2.4 in the bass and mid-bands -
which match perfectly with the superior performance of our solidcore MS2.15 (see below) to extend
high frequency information. This biwire cable set - the so-called MS4.7 - is available ex factory
pre-terminated and in nylon webbing- to keep the cables tidy. It represents our no-compromise,
highest performance bi-wire cable set. Our
new MS2.4 ‘speaker’ cable has
around 300 oxygen free, highest quality copper strands per
conductor, occupying a large 3.2sq mm cross-section.
Now we introduce a large perfectly round Monocrystal™ solidcore conductor-our, so-called,
MS2.15 speaker cable’. The MS2.15 is a high-performance,
full bandwidth loudSpeaker cable sometimes necessary when we acknowledge that some amplifier/loudspeaker
combinations, while exhibiting much strength, may suffer well documented slight upper-mid glare and treble edginess
(and/or over-emphasised bass). The greater strengths of its 1.5 sq mm perfectly
circular solidcore conductors provide the solution to this problem. In a tri-wire or tri-amp set-up, we recommend the MS2.4 driving the bass units and 2 runs of MS2.15, one driving the mid units and one driving the treble units for ultimate bandwidth extension and presence.
Truly, in the MS4.7 biwire we have another world-beater!
May be configured 2-to-4 or 4-to-4 and terminated in z/x copper bananas or spades,
or our new Ecosse logo copper z/x bananasOR our newest Ecosse logo Monocrystal Copper z/x bananas or Monocrystal spades (pitch 7.2mm).
